R.E.A.C.H. Grant Director

The R.E.A.C.H. Grant Director is a full-time position responsible for the oversight of the after school program in partnership with Oakdale Elementary in Warrick County and Princeton Community Intermediate School in North Gibson County.  This position serves as the YMCA’s primary contact to the school administration and faculty and helps establish the program at the assigned schools.

This position is paid through R.E.A.C.H. Grant funding and is currently funded through the end of the 2023-2024 school year.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The R.E.A.C.H. Grant Director must have the competencies, skills and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals and vision for serving the community. Other important responsibilities include the following:

1. Plans and implements program curriculum to correspond with our Program Priority Area (STEM).

2. Administer the day-to-day operation of the afterschool program, ensuring that all the program components are implemented to required dosage.  Be present and on-site a minimum of 12 hours per week.

3. In partnership with the school staff and Curriculum Coordinator, monitor and promote program student recruitment, ensuring optimal enrollment at all times based on grant criteria.

4. Complete required trainings, assessments and implementation plans according to grant requirements.

5. Recruit, hire, train and supervise the Certified Teachers, Curriculum Coordinator, Site Coordinator and Enrichment staff.

6. Prepare and monitor staff schedule at all times, modifying it as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.

7. Coordinate with the school’s administration, teachers, and other community partnerships to successfully implement the program.

8. Facilitate integration of the YMCA afterschool program into the overall school culture in collaboration with school leadership.

9. Evaluate program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses according to REACH Grant measurement and evaluation guidelines.

10. Ensure that our Program Priority Area (STEM) and our Administration Priority Area (Sustainability) are implemented throughout the grant period.

11. Ensure that Youth Voice is included in the program model.

12. Ensure that data required by the grant is reported consistent with the reporting schedule and timelines

13. Assist in developing the program annual budget.

14.  Develop relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate the goals of the initiative and ongoing concerns about student needs.

15. Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor and appropriate staff at all levels of the YMCA.

16. Plan, implement and attend appealing and meaningful programs and events for parents and/or families; provides an ongoing network (formal and informal) of support for program parents.

17. Oversight of Before & After School programs in the Warrick County and North Gibson areas.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree related to youth development or education or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience working with children under the age of 13 in an educational setting to include at least one year in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision making ability.
  • Ability to apply assessment instruments; plan and manage projects; set priorities; adapt to changing work priorities; maintain confidentiality; and promote services within the community.
  • Ability to problem solve and create actions plans using data or independent interpretation of guidelines.
  • Personal characteristics conducive to working effectively with students, teachers, school personnel, and parents.
