Staff Certification Instructor

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Staff Certification Instructor conducts training classes to help YMCA staff obtain their certifications CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.

  2. Complete required abuse risk management training.

  3. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

  4. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. 

  5. Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

  6. Teach classes following standards established by ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute).

  7. Ensure staff meet requirements of the written exam and skills assessment.

  8. Hold at least 4 classes a month with a minimum of one weekend class and one evening class.

  9. Complete required paperwork at the end of each course. 



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment.

  • Child Abuse Prevention training required on/before first day of work.

  • Certification in ASHI or other certified provider is preferred but not required.
