POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization
committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living
and social responsibility. The Program Manager will also focus on program delivery
and customer service. The Program Manager's fiscal responsibilities include:
assigned budget management, monitoring, reporting and implementation of cost
controls in order to meet annual budget and campaign goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening
instruments to screen for abuse risk.
● Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training
related to abuse risk.
● Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their
boundaries with youth.
● Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures
related to abuse risk.
● Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s
progressive disciplinary procedures.
● Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and
inappropriate behaviors.
● Follow mandated reporting requirements.
● Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment
to protect their youth from abuse.
● Report essential risk management information to the Board of Directors.
● Actively assist in our Annual Fund Campaign.
● Consistently provide friendly, courteous assistance exceeding customer
expectations every day, which includes building and maintaining healthy
professional relationships with staff, summer camp families, campers, and
local community.
● Act as a primary host for any groups. Train, manage and be accountable for
the performance of other camp hosts.
● Punctual to work and program areas. Prepare in advance for assigned
activities.
● Support and contribute to a safe, clean camp environment for guests and
staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and Blood Borne Pathogen training required
within 60 days of employment.
● Minimum age of 21 preferred.
● A commitment to working with a diverse staff and camper population to the
fulfillment of YMCA goals.
● Child Abuse Prevention training required before/on first day of work.
● Lifeguarding supervision experience and Lifeguard certifications preferred.
Experience in camp, outdoor center, dirt-bikes, and or ropes course
programming are desirable skills.
● Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field.
● A minimum of 3 seasons of summer resident camp experience or equivalent,
including experience in staff supervision and a minimum of 1-year experience
working with participants of all ages.
● Experience in faith-based mission outreach programs preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
● The physical demands described here are representative of those that must
be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this
job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with

● The employee will be in an environment where they will be walking at least 3
miles a day, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, sitting, climbing, and
occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
● The employee will be in a fast paced, youth centered, and changing
environment and will need to be capable of effective and appropriate mental,
emotional and social interactions. They will also need to possess the strength
and stamina to maintain a constant and engaging supervision of campers for
up to 10 weeks, given two hours off per day and 24 consecutive hours off per
week of work, granted during the breaks between sessions. Stamina includes
the ability to remain alert, friendly and courteous, and patient.
● There will be prolonged periods of social interactions often without individual
alone time.
